Farming at the opera.

In this series of photographs inspired by performances at the Paris Opera, the fragility of our environment is symbolized by the thousands of square meters of netting that cover the Opera House to prevent its façade panels from falling. But at the same time, as a winner of the Paris City Council’s “Parisculteurs” project, the Opera’s roofs have become a magnificent example of urban farming integrated into the capital’s cultural environment, and of the interweaving of nature-based solutions and cultural heritage. Urban farming on the roofs of the Opera House takes on a whole new dimension, demonstrating the importance of interweaving socio-cultural developments in building urban resilience.
